That would be quite a problem if you have a vehicle that RUNS on propane.

I do know if you travel on Washington state ferry's (BC ferry's also) you need to shut off the propane, that is about the only regulation I know of in the west.
My sister-in-law took a truck camper up to AK and she was allowed to run her truck for about an hour a day to charge batteries and was also allowed to have her propane on for a couple hours a day to keep the fridge cold. Don't know all the details, though.
