truck bounces a lot

My ram 2500 bounces a lot with my new toy hauler. Its about 10k 30 footer and I have a centerline towing hitch with the correct weight bars. It was set up for the truck to match the camper at the dealership. This is not my first RV, I had a large 5th wheel and a 30ft travel trailer before but this is the heaviest I have carried on a receiver hitch. The 5th wheel bounced some on bridges too but not as bad. Should I add air bags or heavier shocks. I have premium gas sensatrack shocks mow.

  • Torklift StableLoads will help with rear suspension oscillation. Going to heavy dampening shock like the Blistien 4600 or Rancho 9000XL will also smooth out the ride.

most 30' TH's are heavier than 10K lbs once you add batteries, LPG, water and toys. Did you actually measure tongue weight? You will most likely be over 1500 lbs.
  • Read up on hitch adjustments and made a few tweaks to the load bars. Truck pretty much level with the trailer hooked up and the trailer is not tilted down either. Both are pretty much level and the ride is much better so far, but we haven't been on a real washboard road like we hit in Chattanooga TN. This doesn't fix it I will get the air bags. Thanks guys!
  • Try swapping your premium gas shocks for a set of full hydraulic shocks.
  • If it was set up at the dealer it likely needs to be readjusted. Was it empty at the time? Weight in the back of a th can really affect the tongue weight, which can lead to your bouncing problem.
  • A little bit more info would generate a little bit more suggestions/recommendations........

    What 2500 ----year/model/trim level etc

    What toyhauler -----year/model etc
  • I had some bouncing with my Ram 2500 as well with trailer loaded at 9K. I installed some firestone airbags and no more bouncing.
  • I bet it weighs more than 10,000lbs, so airbags might help alot. My 24' bumper pull weighed 10,000 fully loaded.
