irollman I have a long box because we dry camp a lot. I have a 50 gal aux fuel tank at the front of the box, in front of the 5th wheel. Behind that I sometimes put a 50 gal water bladder that looks like a gigantic awol bag. Behind the 5th wheel I can put another 50 gallon water bladder that lies flat or a 35 gal blue tote for pumping my black water into and then transporting it to a dump in the vicinity of where we are camping. The 3/4 ton was a short box and I had an automatic slider that took care of the 5er when making turns. When we bought the 3/4 ton my wife wanted a crew cab model. When I asked why, she said "well what about mom and dad and your dad?" Made sense and then when we got the dually and our parents had passed away but we have grandkids whom we babysit and pick up from school 2 weeks out of the month. Believe me when I say sometimes the truck isn't big enough. I would have gotten an HDT but my better half said "NO", so that took care of that. Long box/short box will depend on GVWR of the trailer you get. I prefer the dually. Another thing to remember about a 1 ton dually is, it doesn't ride like a Cadillac and my wife will attest to that. Rougher ride but it's a truck meant to haul heavy things.
