It's not what the ram can tow as it's more than capable of towing way more than what you plan, it's about what the truck can carry in pin weight. Most Ram owners don't realize how heavy the Cummins engine is and how little "payload" it has when the weight of the truck is subtracted from the trucks GVWR especially with a Ram 2500. If it doesn't bother you then that's ok I was just pointing out a fact most diesel ram owners are unaware of as it has bitten me a couple of times now.:)
I'll back you up. I have a 12 Ram 2500 CTD 4x4 CC LB ST. I tow a loaded 9000lb 5'er with an 1800lb pin. Trucks GVWR is 9600lbs. CCC is 2176lbs. I'm 200lbs over the GVWR @9800lbs, 1100lbs under the RAWR, 3500lbs under the tow rating and 3000lbs under the GCVWR. Payload is the killer. Would I tow more? Sure. The 2500 and 3500 share everything except rear spring pack. How much more? Maybe 500lbs for payload and 12,000lbs loaded for tow weight.
