TV Antenna

We are new rver's, have a Cedar Creek 36 CKTS on order, delivery should be mid May. I was wondering if anyone is using a HD antenna for local and HD channels in place of Dish or Direct, and if so how good is the reception? I realize that many variables factor into the quality of the reception but overall if it does a good job.
We have cable at home so I would have to purchase a satellite dish and it is my understanding if you travel out of your local area you do not receive local channels ABS,CBS etc.. Also we are Netflix subscribers but I don't know if campgrounds allow you to stream movies on their supplied wifi.
Any experience or advice would be appreciated.

  • It all depends on your distance from the TV transmitter. If you are within 40 miles with relatively flat ground they work very well. You do need to find the right direction to point the antenna and then scan for channels every time you move. Most parks have cable now days some better than others.
  • Have rarely found campground Wi-Fi strong enough to even get e-mail. Doubt if you could stream a movie.
