Interesting he said in New Zealand they use 5th wheelers much more than we do. We are really gun shy. I noticed there were many of the type he was showing whizzing up and down the mountainous terrain of New Zealand doing roughly 60mph
Explanation of how a 5th Wheel works for potential Australian owners
Did anyone catch how far forward the hitch is and how long the pinbox extension is? Got to be at least 6" in front of the rear axle.
One thing I still can't figure, is why Aussie regs require such a long bridge span between the pin and the axles. Yes, it's related to rear overhang, but I'd think that you'd want a much more balanced setup, with a bit =less= pin weight. Either that, or the rear of most TTs and FWs must be made with a =lot= of stuff back there to help counter the pin.
