Used B&W hitch

Have any of you had any experience with the older style B&W Companion type hitch? I can buy this one for around $300.00 but I would have to install the B&W turnover ball gooseneck hitch.

My old 99 Superduty doesn't have fiver rails or a gooseneck hitch so I am starting from scratch. I'd like to get the gooseneck and companion hitch like this to keep the floor flat in the truck.

Anyway, here are some pics.

Thanks for any insight y'all can provide on this hitch.

Thanks,

Jeremiah

I would stick with the real B&W, not one that looks homemade. I bought a nearly new Companion for $400USD on craigslist four years and 22K miles ago from a hotshotter who was getting out of the business.

Thanks! I was thinking maybe this was an early companion. Lol

  • Thanks for the insight. This is not the hitch I am looking for.

I'd be better off with a 15k pro series than this.

    Thanks for looking everyone.

That looks pretty custom to me, like someone took a Reese and mounted it to a custom made plate.
Personally, if you needed the gooseneck and the companion I would pick them up new. I have seen online where you can get both in the $1100 - $1200 range if I remember right.

That looks exactly like my Reese 15k hitch, I think you're right, they just welded a plate to the bottom.
  • Wow. I sold my 5 year old B&W last Feb. for $400. Either I gave mine away or the seller of that hitch is a shrewd salesman...........
  • Looks to me like the bottom plate has a pin welded to it that goes into a goose neck socket. So if you have to buy the turn over ball hitch you can get the new version of the companion for about $750 and wont have to drill the bed.
