Thought I would share my story, since I am browsing for some answers.The GMC 2500 HD diesel performed perfectly!We left Reno towing the Fuzion 302 to Las Vegas on June 29.Las Vegas and Lake Mead were north of 115 degrees the 3 days we were there.Then on Wednesday July 3 headed to Lake Powell. A little cooler and more time on the lake.Saturday July 6 headed toward Ely, NV.I have the TST TPMS and it worked!!!! It warned me of a low pressure situation. Fortunately, we were near a town with a quick lube/tire store open.The tread was beginning to separate on the Goodyear Marathon. When they aired up the tire, I could feel air escaping from numerous places.Bought a tire that they had in stock....Hercules...never heard of them.The TPMS has now paid for itself by warning me of the situation BEFORE the tread flew off and causing damage to the trailer.On Sunday, unfortunately, the TST TPMS monitor failed. So, I was a little nervous driving from Ely to Reno, but we made it fine. The monitor is being replaced under warrantee.So, I have been browsing all the threads about tires. I have decided to stick with the ST rather than go to the LT. What I read about the sidewall and the rolling friction differences make sense to me.Thinking about the Maxxis which has good reviews, but may stay with Marathons.Leaving for Salem Or. Wednesday for a BMW MS rally.Cheers,

+3 on Maxxis. They've done great for me.

I have used Marathons for almost 20 years on various trailers and never had a problem with any of them until they got to 5 years old or so. Now I replace them earlier than that. I have had an occasional flat from a nail or other road hazard, but no tire failures on the younger tires.

The only thing better about ST tires is price. Why anyone would run ST tires on a TH is beyond me.

15 yrs? getting a little dramatic? I'm not asking you to buy it. Take it for what it's worth. I'm just stating the facts as I know them. I don't know how long Discount keeps them but they were not on the trailer very long. I'm not posting things I'm not sure of. Think what you want. But remember others may have different experiences than you.

Not being dramatic, just trying to get info on the other factors.

Is this the same guy that in another post by you, stated 30k lbs on a trailer????? :S

I think alot of confusion about tires stems from the users intended use. Location (ie: Heat) load (comparing a 30' travel trailer and a 30 toybox is apples to oranges), Speed, dirt roads with rocks that are unavoidable, poorly maintained freeways,do you travel 40mi to the campground or 500mi... the list goes on.

What works for one person will not work for another.

My experience, 4 diffrent toyhaulers, bubbled every st tire I've run. One set of ribs, no issues, currently running (3yrs) duravis R250 no issues. ST tires may very well work for some, they dont work for me :B

I always have them balance my trailer tires. They're no different than any other tire in that they build heat from the same variables. Weight, friction, balance, alignment, and inflation. I used to run my old TT tires at less than their max pressure rating for a better ride, but had tire failures too. I now make sure my trailer tires are always at their maximum rated pressure all the time.
