Now that we have a decent amount of carpet in our new fifth wheel, I'd like to get a compact vacuum to keep in the camper. Preferably something that will fit in the bedroom closet. I did a search and found that a lot of people liked the Hoover Nano Light Compact but that appears to have been discontinued. Even if I did find it online elsewhere, I'd rather be able to purchase something from Walmart or Kmart so that I can return it easily if there's an issue.

We have a compact little Dirt Devil that we have had 6 years. It works great! I'm pretty sure it is called a "Dynamite". Our fith wheel has a central vac and we have never used it. Still like the little Dirt Devil. Phillip

Did you search this Forum for `vacuum cleaner'? 122 posts on the subject.Look at Hoover Linx cordless. Actually fun to use on our bare floors; haven't tried it on carpeting.

I installed the dirt devil central vac in my fiver 3 years ago and never looked back at small portable vac. This thing was easy to install and works great. I think all fivers should have these as standard eguipment . It cost me 200.00 dollars and a little install time but the wife and I both love it.

This system really rocks and has more suction than the Dometic central vac in our last rig. I have a turbo head and it really came to life with the Dirt Devil suction.

We have the Dirt Devil built in system and it works great on the few hard places, but the carpet attachment doesn't work so well. I have to be on my knees to have it work very well at all. We have our old Oreck from home that works great. Light weight, easy to store. Any good light weight home vaccume would be fine.

Bought the Hoover Nano from Walmart for $58 for the trailer wife liked it so much took it for the house. Does a great job on the wood floors.

I use a small ~2 gal Craftsman shop vac. Has been convenient to pick up water as needed.

We have the compact Dirt Devil 110 volt unit in the 5er, works pretty good. We came home from this last trip without running the vacuum befor leaving the Camp Ground, we don't have power at our storage yard, so I took our Dyson battery powered vacuum stick. This runs about 20 minutes on a charge, it also has a powered head. It worked great.

One other option the small shopvac wet/dry and a powerhead from a flea market cleans the carpet and can suck up the water from the carpet when the slide leaks or spot shampoo the carpet when Spot leaks. Why get something that only can do one thing.

For those with the built in units- Disassemble the area where the main motor is. If It was like ours, the tubing from the wall plug and the dustpan were way to long, buy 3-4 feet wrapped around, just about kinked around itself. After straightening all this out ours works great!

Had two RV's with central vac. Good for touch up but not much good for good cleaning. Glad the present one doesn't have it. Gotta find be one of those Nanos!

We have the Dirt Devil built-in and the only good I can say about it is the "dust pan". Dragging that hose from one end of the rig to the other is a pain. We use an older Hoover Nano (approx. 5 years) and it works well on both carpet and vinyl. It does have the collapsible handle.
