I fulltime, use 13'6" as my height and use EVERYTHING available. I have my height entered into my GPS so it (supposedly) routes me around low clearances, and I have 1 or 2 apps on my phone for low clearances. And I also use MS Streets and Trips the night before to route my daily trips. I plan all my trips ahead of time and check the apps.
But my best resource is the Trucker's Motor Carrier Atlas. This thing is great. It has a state by state listing in the back that shows all the low clearances (I think Texas wins that lottery). But the best part is that all you have to do is pay attention to the color coding on the individual roads on the state maps and you'll be fine.
I got the laminated version so it'll last and also so I can use a dry erase marker to plot out my trips. Also, for some reason it was cheaper to buy it at a Loves then thru Amazon.
