Want to add a cig charger inside-ideas?

So the weekend of the 6th, 7th & 8th a few of us guys are going to the Oregon Duck game in Eugene and we'll be in a RV park that is totally dry (basically a parking lot) and we have a generator but those have to turn off by 10.

One of the guys uses a C-pap machine and it can run on 12V, all of my interior outlets are 120V so I'm think of adding some sort of cig style power source so he can run his machine off the batteries at night.

Should I try jacking into the fuse box or not, was also thinking of running directly from the batteries but that sound like more of a pain.

Thoughts? Or has anyone found a better solution?

Thanks ahead of time,

Bill

  • Where is you TV antenna booster at? Most of the Winegaurd ones have a 12V outlet.
  • He may have a 12v Cpap, but he obviously has a 120v option as well. Use that, and get a small inverter. You'll find plenty of other uses for it.

I have one of these what I call a 12VDC Charge station's on both ends of my POPUP trailer. These are made by BLUE SEA and available from AMAZON... Not expensive to order...

I like to have an ON-OFF Switch for these... Many different layouts available from AMAZON BLUE SEA Panels.

These modules are round so you have mount these panels Horizontal or Vertical...

I am always hooking up to 12VDC so I have an additional 12VDC SUB Panel with fuses installed in my POPUP (AMAZON) just perfect for adding things like this...

I am not a fan of tapping into other 12VDC wiring... Like to go directly to a 12VDC circuit or perhaps having additional studs near the battery for more 12VDC connections.

Not fun blowing a fuse when out off-grid somewhere and no ffuses available haha...

  • I had a 12v outlet installed in the base of our bed especially for my cPAP. Is connected directly on the 12V side of the converter, therefore directly to the batteries. It has a fuse installed directly in-line. That is what I would do, an extension cord for 12v is available, but is not recommended. But, be advised to use a Power Port instead of a regular cigarette lighter outlet. The power ports are available at most Auto parts places and are designed to be just that, and are more durable that a lighter type plug.
  • If this is a guest, some of the 12v cig outlets have alligator clips on the back end. You could make your own long version or bring an extra battery in the coach at bed time.
  • Depends on the amount of amps @ 12v. I'd suggest getting down to your local auto parts store and getting a cheap inverter. That way you could also watch TV without having to run a generator.
