There's no way the P3 knows the brakes are hot. It has to extrapolate this info from the characteristics of the brake windings and isn't a very reliable system.
It may be that your brake wire is grounding slightly in the axle tubes or one of the coils may be acting abnormally. All the P3 knows is that some aspect of the brake's electrical properties have changed.
It's not in any way caused by using an ex. brake.
