Water Hose

People in the Rv store say, you have to buy a different hose for fresh water and only use that hose for fresh water. My question is why not buy two garden hoses different colours? I would like comments from people who are not trying too sell this?
  • garden hoses are not food grade hoses. use the white hose with the blue strip.
  • Your drinking water hose should be of food grade material. Food grade hoses usually are white or blue.

Using it exclusively for potable water is a sanitation issue. Your other hose (for cleaning and/or flushing your tanks) can be a garden hose.

You are right that it helps to avoid confusion if they are not the same color.
  • Potable water hoses, usually white with a blue stripe, are made for fresh water only and don't contain possible contaminants that regular garden hoses might. You need two hoses, one for the fresh water tank, and one for all else.
  • Use the one hose for fresh water, to keep it sanitary. Then if you need another hose for other tasks, like tank flushing, use a different one.
