Water not working at all through city, but it's on outside.

Our water outside at the spicket. The elbow shaped thing on the outside that hooks the water hose to the 5th wheel isn't clogged. Our inside water (bathroom and kitchen) comes on for about 5 seconds, tapers off, then no water. Soooo, we put water in our holding tank. When the pump is turned on the water works. When the pump is off and the water is turned on, the water that comes through the cold side is hot although not scalding hot. When the pump is turned on it runs cool through the cold side.

Additionally our kitchen sink is stopped up and I've put the chemicals to break stuff down in it to no avail. It's been this way for a month or more. It drains but not normally. And the smell is like rotten eggs when it bubbles back up. Right this second though it's not draining at all. We have 3 tanks on this 5th wheel and the kitchen thing is always left open so it's not like we're forgetting to open it. This is very frustrating. I have zero idea where to begin and honestly cannot afford a ton of money to hire someone to work on this stupid thing.

Edit:
Also I failed to mention in my earlier that the check valve has been deleted, so it's definitely not that.

  • Yep This has happened to me a few times with the inlet check Valve behind the screen sticking so I just grab it with needle nose pliers and pull it back and forth to loosen it up watch out though when you unstick the valve it will spray ya in the face with a shot of water

Check the city water connection inlet screen,,,,and the city water inlet check valve

Either one or both will cause little to no flow from hose to RV
  • i would agree in part for the filters. Also check all the aerators on the faucets. make sure a bypass valve wasn't flipped by mistake. just work your way through the system and double check everything. it is most likely something simple. let us know what it is. GOOD LUCK & BE SAFE! ! !
  • I doubt it's the water filter. Regardless of the water source, city or water pump, they both go thru the water filter before delivering water to faucets or toilet in the RV.

If you have outside water faucets on the RV check to make sure they are turned off, especially the hot water faucet.
  • If all works on pump, then check water filter, or screen washers on water connections. Take the elbow off and check for obstructions there.

  • Melissa its a clogged water filter and the water heater is the cause of the rotten egg smell I sent you a pm

Sounds like you need to turn water valve to city inlet position. Well you better hire someone.

It was working yesterday just fine. Wouldn't I have to have switched it from the other for this to have happened if that was what was wrong w/ it?
