Weight Police: Need Help!!!

Truck: '13 Chevy 2500HD, cc, sb, 4X4, SRW, Dmax, Allison. Stock suspension, but will upgrade to Timbrens, and may look into air bags.

Looking at KZ Durango Gold G359RET: UVW 10640, dry hitch 2190, dry axle 8450, NCC 2960, GVWR 13600.

Hitch is a Reese 20k slider.

What is the trucks Rear GAWR? That will be your biggest issue. Dry hitch weight of 2190 will be close to 2,800-3K when loaded. Add to that the weight of the 5th wheel hitch and anything else you will carry in the bed, and you will find that you have exceeded the Rear GAWR. And that you should have gotten a 3500. And you will be 1000-1500 over the truck GVWR if that concerns you.

Well depends if you want to stay within your TV GVWR.
If loaded normally you will be at about 12,000# on the 5er, the dry pin is 20.5 percent of the Dry weight, so wet pin in the area of 2,460#, could go as high as 2,600# depending on how you load the basement.

It is your choice to pull over GVWR. I would NEVER exceed tire or wheel ratings.
  • I pulled my fiver (12k) with a 08 duramax. It was a little squishy but no big problems. Your 13 is a whole lot beefier than my 08.
  • Your 2013 certainly has more payload than my 2008 2500 did. I had to up to a 3500 because my dry pin weight exceeded my payload. Look at your loading sticker on your door post. Tires/wheels will be the most limiting factor. A few people do not worry about going over their published load sticker till they get closer to their axle weights. I opted to stay inside my numbers and knew we would be looking into a heavier 5er in the future. Therefore I went to a 3500. Start with the payload/axle sticker & let us know.
