If you have a GD trailer, call GD with your VIN and they will tell you the mfgr. Most likely it is Lionshead.

I contacted Lionshead, the maker of the wheels. They stated the wheels are good to 120 psi. No need to change wheels. But they were adamant that I use metal valve stems.

IMO it's a good idea to also use a good TPMS to monitor the pressures.

I have Westlake tires on my Grand Design and no problems. Abuse your tires and they will abuse you.

The consensus on the GD forum seems to be that the Westlake load range G tires are acceptable. There seems to have been more problems with the load range E Westlakes.

Within 2 weeks of taking delivery of my GD Reflection 28BH, one of my Westlakes load range E tires developed a split in the sidewall.

As that was right before we were to embark on our inaugural 70 day summer trip, I decided to replace them with Sailun Load Range G ST tires. These are 110 psi tires instead of 80 psi. They require that a metal valve stem be used instead of the rubber stems with the OEM tires.

So far we are 2 weeks into our trip, having travelled 2500 miles. So far so good. With our tire monitor, pressures are in the mid-90 psi range and temps are generally well below 100F.

RV MFGS recently started using heavier rated west lake tires. The lower rated tires were issue as the tire was maxed out. Nobody ever talks about the tire rating just CHina bombs. West lake now has higher rating tires that are capable of the load. It’s like saying ford is sh1t because you can’t pull your fiver with a Ford ranger. Of course you can’t cause the ranger is not rated enough.
If the tire is rated at 75 mph it is probably rated at higher load as well. Our westlakes are E rated and about to be replaced with Sailuns after 3 years.

I have them on my 2018 Cedar Creek, 16000 GVW, G-rated, scaled at 14600 loaded, 110 psi cold, 2150 miles no problems so far.Dan

Unless you weigh your RV's tires you have no idea what inflation to use!

Most RV's use the MAX inflation ratings to rate the carrying capacity so run MAX unless you want to know what psi is actually needed for best tire performance. Weigh the tires, use the inflation/weight chart for your tire and add 5psi to the chart number.

Always a good idea for a heavy trailer.
