We have Dexter axles and MorRyde CRE3000 Equlizers and I replaced the factory shackles 1st month after we got it. Sadly tho, CRS, I don't recall what I went with. Do know the shackles are 1/2", bronze bushings, serrated bolts w/ grease zerks. Like stated above, it's more of a PITA getting susp tension released, things re-aligned, old bolts out and such. Hope someone else verifies this, but think the nut torque is 50 ft lb upon tightening.
As a suggestion: before installing whatever wet bolt kit you go with, mark the end of bolt (zerk end) w/ a black Sharpie in line w/ the holes in the bolt where grease comes out so you have that mark in either the 3 or 9 o'clock position. That way when it comes time to grease things w/ susp off the ground, grease will go in a whole lot easier.
