- VulcaneerExplorerDRV, Excel, Nu-Wa, LifeStyle, Holiday Rambler (they are making them again). All of these are more than $100K when new. And most run more than 18,000 pounds. Good quality weighs a lot. And requires a very strong truck. A 3500/350 Dually at a MINIMUM.
In the lower and mid-range, manufactured quality is about the same. They can be OK, but all these manufacturers build a lemon once in a while.
If you buy used, look at Carriage, Teton, Titanium, New-Mar. - Atom_AntExplorerHigh end comes at a weight price. Make sure you have the rig to pull it.
- LINDA53ExplorerWe have a nuwa hitchhiker and I is awesome. 2010. Bought used in February great price and high end
- NC_HaulerExplorerYou can still get some very, very nice Tetons at a decent price and they seem to last and last. VERY good quality and also VERY heavy...
- AceiExplorerOP needs to specify the budget. Without it, obviously the best built (but most expensive) trailers are going to be the best.
Out of the still-running-business manufacturers, it will be DRV (only Elite and Mobile Suites), Excel, and Lifestyle. The rest aren't as well built, hence they are cheaper. But these are close to $100k or more (depending on the models) when properly equipped, which may not be what you had in mind. Most of these are also very heavy, so you will need 350/3500 diesel duallies minimum, which may or may not work for the OP. - Traveler_IIExplorerIt's somewhat new but "Lifestyle" looks like a good fiver.

Finally some folk actually answered the question.
In addition to NuWa, Excel by Peterson, Mobile Suite; I would recommend (actually above all others) New Horizon.
You will note I did -not- recommend Arctic Fox, which I don't think is among the 5 "best" brands... It is among the best VALUE rigs out there (note my signature)
yep, forgot about New Horizon...you are also right about your Arctic Fox:) - n7bsnExplorerFinally some folk actually answered the question.

Finally an answer that would possibly be closer to answering the OP's question.
OP, when you ask this question , MOST will recommend their own 5er....it's just the way it happens around here.
The above with Mobile Suites, Excel and Nu-Wa is a pretty good answer...some not manufactured any more if I'm not mistaken might be a Carriage and also Teton...there are others, but these mentioned would more than likely be included in the conversation....
I think "MINE" is great, but you asked for the TOP FIVE BRANDS"..purely subjective, but there are those, again, some mentioned above that would possibly fall into your category.
