- Gib3633ExplorerAs mentioned earlier most people are proud of what they have and mention it. I too have a Montana and will NEVER have another Montana or any other trailer that can not be specked out with IS suspension and Disc brakes. Most customers get too excited about the interiors and forget to look underneath to see what is carrying it around. If you know what you are looking at that gets right scarry. They lighten the suspension to carry more weight for example hydraulic leveling system.
New Horizon has it all strong frame, IS suspension , Disc brakes, hydraulic leveling, 17.5 tires and on and on. For that you need a very heavy wallet and a very heavy truck.
I now like my Montana now that it has the IS suspension, Disc brakes, G614 Goodyears and 2nd AC. $8,000.00 later in upgrades.
I hope this helps your decision. - drillkingExplorerWe looked at Lifestyle Luxury, DRV, Excel, New Horizons, and Komfort. After months of visiting and evaluating, we chose Lifestyle Luxury. 2 months of a lot of traveling and we love it so far.
- camrExplorerVery pleased with our Open Range 345RLS. No major problems, great factory support.
Triple E has not mfg a 5th for a few years. They survived the market turndown a few years ago by mfging only motorhomes. I delivered raw product to their factory floor for 2 years and I can attest to their great quality. The workers treat the units as if they were building them for themselves. If they made a TT or 5er, I would buy one in a heartbeat. - rmalik1Explorer

Finally an answer that would possibly be closer to answering the OP's question.
OP, when you ask this question , MOST will recommend their own 5er....it's just the way it happens around here.
The above with Mobile Suites, Excel and Nu-Wa is a pretty good answer...some not manufactured any more if I'm not mistaken might be a Carriage and also Teton...there are others, but these mentioned would more than likely be included in the conversation....
I think "MINE" is great, but you asked for the TOP FIVE BRANDS"..purely subjective, but there are those, again, some mentioned above that would possibly fall into your category.
x2 - Uncle_GrumpyExplorerthe best advice I can advise is to find a well cared for top of the line products already mentioned. We bought a 97 Excel 28 ft legacy last year for $6500. It's weight is 8000 lb dry. Four season, all oak interior, every thing made in house including the frame. Not a staple or particle board on board. I spent nine months searching craig's list and paid cash 300 miles from home. After nearly 2 years we have spent only $300 on repairs and traveled from TX to WY. Buying new of anything is not very smart. Nor is financing something that depreciates so rapidly as RV's.

We walked in a New Horizons at the Hershey show last year...WOW.. Very nice product,,,pricey but for the quality ..I think it's worth it if you have it to spend..The owner on the company and his wife were the 2 reps there and we're great to talk to...definitely would get on my top 5 list...Joe
Not just in the top 5 but #1. - rmalik1Explorer

I never had an opportunity to see New Horizons in person. Can you visibly tell the difference in quality when compared against the other slightly cheaper competitors like Mobile Suites, Excel and Lifestyle?
I've checked out both DRV and Lifestyle in person and I have to admit, they were very well built.
To some extent "yes" but just interior stuff. At Hershey I always talk to the owner (last two years). I ask him about the build of his trailers and he is willing to talk, of course if he get busy I won't bother him as he's looking to make sales. - arnko37ExplorerIf you are looking at used rigs check out SunnyBrook and Alpenlite. Very good quality.
- UppercrustExplorerWhat about a Crossroad Cruiser, we really like ours. We also liked the Cougar we owned before that.
- colliehaulerExplorer IIII don't think a person could go wrong with DRV, Excel, or New Horizon. Have not seen Lifestyle.
