What can my POS haul?

This is getting very frustrating! I have an upset wife because I won't get the Coachmen 301.
What will my truck haul??? I'm sick of looking so recommendations are appreciated. I'm sure most of you know but just in case.
Ram 1500, 5.7, 3.92 gears, 6" lift, 35" tires.

She wants a toy hauler with a door to the garage. However, we'll look at TTs as well if my truck can pull it.

  • This toy hauler is to much for a 1/2 ton truck, you need a 3/4 to 1 ton to tow safety..

Well I can't blame her, the door/wall from the garage to upfront of RV does make it feel more like a RV and less smelling of gas fumes from those off road toys..

How old is your truck, do you still owe money on it, getting the right toy hauler today is cheaper than up grading later, trade in the 1/2 ton truck and get a 3/4 or 1 ton man truck and get on with life..

    Your Wife Is right...

  • We know your frustrated but you really (really) need to review your owners manual so you know what it was built to tow. Then the bigger tires and lift come into view. But until you look up your numbers we're all just telling you our opinion, you need to look this up for yourself in your owners manual. Let us know what you find out, then we can give some better advice.

Put it back to stock & you won't have a "POS".
Everything is a trade off. You could regear.
+1, take the truck off the toy list.

  • So, with the advice of Scott maybe I should look at trailers weighing in around 4K lbs.

At any rate, those 35" tires are going to kill your gearing and limit what you can pull.

Put the appropriate tires back on your truck and you'll be able to tow up to your ratings - otherwise cut them in half.

I bought the truck like this. When I bought it pulling these things was not anywhere on my radar.
Also, yes I have posted this before and I mentioned that in my post here, if this bothers you feel free to not respond.

    Just saying
  • The 301 grosses at 10,000 lb, your truck will be a slug with that weight especially on 35's and you will have a battle on your hands in a good wind. You will also likely exceed your towing capacity. Can you seriously consider upgrading the truck?
