Our first hitch was a Reese 16K manual slider. It served us well but was rather noisy and had a lot of wind up when stopping. Used the slider a few times and worked well.
New truck, new hitch. Moved to a B&W Companion and wow what a great hitch. Easy to hitch up, you know your connected instantly. Very smooth and dead quiet. No wind up when stopping. Yes, it costs considerable more but worth every penny.
Buy the best hitch you can afford.
