We use pressure treated 6x6 one foot long. We have eye bolt on one end with a rope to make it easy to pull out and pick up. These have held up for many years. Same thing for the rear jacks. The four standing on end fit nicely in a plastic milk crate in the back of the truck.
X2 I put metal handles on mine. They also fit nicely in the battery compartment next to the one 12V battery.
