I have a 2005 F-250 powerstroke and its my daily driver also. Now my trips are a little further than yours averaging 12-15 miles round trip. I've not had any trouble with this type of driving with my diesel. I'm OCD when it comes to maintenance and taking care of my vehicle though and I'm sure that helps. But just as you I must have it for our 5er (which is very close to yours in weight, 10,900 per cat scales) and I have a 24ft deck over gooseneck too so any 1\2 ton is out. I love my diesel and couldn't imagine pulling with any gasser unless I just had no choice. Now it does take a little while to truly warm up and I never drive it cold. When it gets really cold (under say 30-35 and less) I simply plug in the block heater (which I have on a timer in the garage) and she's ready to go in a moments notice. I just personally don't see why you'd buy any 3\4 ton or larger truck with any thing but a diesel. A truck of this size has a specific purpose which is to work and tow. Why not get the engine that's built to do the same thing. DIESEL!!!
