No disrespect towards the gas motors, and I have nothing but good things about the new Hemi. I am sure they do great towing but I really don't thing they compare to a diesel. Like I said, I pulled mine for several seasons with no trouble, but its nothing like pulling it now.
Just a question, have you pulled your rig with a diesel?
Yes I have. My previous tow vehicle was a 99 F250 power stroke. I know that one is puny compared to the newer diesels. My 6.2 gas pulls the same camper up the same 6% long grade with more ease than the ole psd did. The gasser fits into my needs just fine. I tow around 3000 miles each winter. I was just trying to give some input to the gasser question. I don't care what other people drive. Sure there is a need for a diesel powered pick up. That is why they are made. :W BTW have you ever watched the pull off between the 6.2 gas and the diesel yanking a heavy load up the step hill?
You are correct with the 99 being puny compared to the newer motors. They are not even in the same league as the new 6.7's ford or dodge. I cant speak for the chevy's. I haven't seen the video and I am in the process of trying to find it. Is it a commercial type video? Along that line, I would have a hard time thinking that the comparable gas truck would out pull a new diesel with an equal load, flat ground or up a grade.
Once again I am not bashing the gas motors, they are good motors, if the OP doesn't want or cant spend the money on the diesel, or just doesn't want added maintance that's completely understandable. I did the same thing and wish I would have got the diesel.
