Sadly we concur that pride of workmanship is very lacking in the RV industry, whether at first purchase walk through, or going back through for the "punch list" of items needing attention/repair/replacement.
We had our stove come out in the middle of the floor driving down the highway on pick up = really could have been nasty if we'd braked heavy and someone was sitting on the couch opposite whilst going down the road. A/C problems never resolved after going back in and out for weeks at a time over several months, finally through a forum like this and kind members we found the issue and resolved it ourselves with other RVers help. Same with our awning going in and out on it's own accord. Hinges and doors not aligned, lights in bays not working, tv cable connection problem from back bay through to Front TV, main door, screen door = the list goes on and on. The biggie for us was it took over 18 months of break downs before someone suggested we had a defunct fuel pump. That was the most frustrating and worse item that affected our enjoyment hugely. It seems to be power for the course with these rigs that quality and no TQM pre-delivery inspection and testing, leads to our suffering and being inconvenienced as new owners.
It's very evident which RV's stand up to the test of time when you view units that are five to ten years old of the manufacturer you are interested in. Some wear far more superiorly than others, but in all fairness equally the price points are usually poles apart also.
For us I don't think we'd ever buy new again (first fifth wheel was new with issues, second unit we still have is a Gas Engine RV), but a gently used and meticulously maintained unit would be on our horizon.
Just saying FWIW.
