We are buying used. Being as such that we are just starting out, we don't want to shell out a lot of cash.
Same here - although we've owned a Class C motorhome for 10 years now, so we at least have some RVing experience.
At the risk of sounding jaded, we have begun assuming that ALL used RVs are going to have a problem or two or ten. It's just a matter of finding the problem, then figuring out if you want to deal with it? The ones that are creampuffs (stored indoors, for example) are going to have higher prices. The cheapest ones are usually found at public auctions, because they have enough problems that a dealer doesn't want to mess with it. The ones for sale by owner are a mixed lot: yesterday we looked at one that we liked a LOT, the owner was wonderful and showed how everything worked. But the rubber gaskets around the windows have shrunken with age, and a window leaked, causing the plywood of an interior wall to buckle slightly and there's a small area of mildew staining on the carpet. So far, that's not a deal-breaker for us; and I would be spending my snow-birding time replacing all the window seals. But we have a few other units to look at yet...
