I think you hit the nail on the head, Howard. I'm a bit foggy this AM and that didn't occur to me. If so, there's no way for the jaws to close at all! The locking handle is very far forward, which would indicate this condition, IMO.
Lyle - RustyJCExplorerTypically with the B&W, this could happen when one unhitches and drives out before the 5th wheel's landing legs are down. It's not a hitch problem, it's a process problem.
Rusty - ReneeGExplorerSame with the TrailerSaver hitch - has a lever that has to be in the 10'oclock position to hitch, then automatically locks in the 9'oclock position. If you don't see either visually before and after, then you are done for and can suffer the same as above!
