First, the only difference in propane connector lines will be length.
In my experience, 6 ft. is a good length for 100 lb. tanks.
It is lawful, and quite easy if you are in average health, to haul the
100 lb. tank laying down in the bed of your pickup. Just stand it close
behind the bed and tip it in. Be sure to secure it to keep it from rolling
around.
Although there is no limit, for safety reasons I wouldn't want to haul one too far.
