- ReneeGExplorerDefinitely has to be a misprint.
We have a 2011 F350 DRW crew cab, 4x4:
Conventional towing - 17,500
Fifth Wheel towing - 21,300 - BurbManExplorer IIProbably 19,840...a 5er puts the hitch weight in the bed over the rear axle, where a conventional trailer attaches to the frame at the back of the truck. The distance between the axle and the back of the truck acts as a lever arm on a conventional trailer so puts added stress on the suspension, where the 5er's pin weight is loading straight down.
- valhalla360NavigatorThere is likely a typo on the rating.
But 5th wheels do generally get a different tow rating but it's usually higher and not typically a 50% difference.
For example: We have a 2008 F250 Crew Cab Short Bed V10 4.10 rear end.
- Conventional Towing 12,500
- 5th Wheel Towing 14,500 - MFLNomad IIIt would help to know what model and year Ram. I'm thinking 3500, likely DRW?
Jerry - wanderingaimlesExplorer"5TH-WHEEL TOWING CAPACITY (LBS.) 9,840"
Maybe a mistake for Kg? - KD4UPLExplorerThat can't be right. Are you sure the 5th wheel capacity isn't 19,840? Usually the FW cap is more than the "regular" hitch cap.
