What is this? ( a plumbing question )
Found this under our bathroom sink. Any idea what it is, I don't recognize this device, some kind if a vent ? I see an arrow designating flow direction. Thanks for any input.

We replaced both of ours (one on each black tank flusher) with Watts LF288A units. Much better all-metal units.
