With my growing family I'm looking at getting rid of my TC and getting a trailer with quad bunks. I'll likely end up with a TT since these are fairly hard to find in a FW but I did spot 2 today on a used lot. Looking at how tall they are I'm guessing MPG will be pretty bad. I'm used to getting 10 MPG with my TC, it's 11' 5" to the top of the AC unit. I typically drive the speed limit which is often 70 MPH.If I had a FW it would likely be taller and certainly heavier. I'm just curious what folks with a truck similar to mine ('05 Chevy CC dually 4wd D/A) are getting for mileage pulling a FW around 12,000 to 14,000 pounds.Thanks,

My '08 Duramax gets between 9 and 10 mpg towing our 41',14600lb and 13'4" high fiver.

10ish towing is what you should expect. Slow down and it will go up.

10 to 11 with 13k fiver in signature. 60 to 62 mph towing speed.Rich

FWs are inherently "cleaner" aerodynamically than TTs, so mileage will likely be about the same. Yes, it'll be less on uphills, but not hugely different.Lyle

5er while taller still has better aerodynamics than a TT. Truck and 5er act as a single mass compared to truck and TT that act like two. I went from a 7500lb TT to 12k lb 5er and my mileage changed very little.5er will also tow very comfortably/stable at 70mph+ (with the right tires)

What mileage could I expect? '05 Dmax, 14,000 GVWR FW

2006 duramax with Allison 6 speed here. 9.5-10 mpg with 40 ft 5er doing speed limit. also use tow haul mode.

We get 12 MPG running 60 MPH. Our 5th is 12'4" at the A/C and maybe 11,000 lbs loaded. It's a quad bunk and the bunks are larger than all of the TT bunk houses we looked at over the years.

I get 11 MPG with my 13,000 LB 5th wheel at 62-65 mph.
