WHAT TO BUY

Ok just bought a Ford F250 7.3L truck to tow my boat. Also bought a fifth wheel system for it. We have been wanting a camper forever.

Have no clue what to buy.

It will be used for just me and my wife and 3 dogs.

We keep our boat in RockPort, TX and usually stay at my friends house but that money keeps pilling up so figured we would get something of our own.

I have $75K to spend, want it as big as possible and the nicest one we can afford.

My brother bought one a year ago, older and used though and he told me I have to be careful cause a lot of companies use cheap parts to make the camper with and they won't with stand the test of time but look super nice.

So that's why I am asking y'all.
We will travel anywhere along the GulfCoast for the right deal.

So what's y'all's opinion??
Thanks for the help

  • My "Vintage" truck is one if the best tow vehicles ever built there buddy.
  • With that vintage f250 there is no way I could consider a fifth wheel over about 30 feet long and no more than 10,000 pounds GVWR. Your available payload is around 1600 pounds based on the trucks ready to travel weight minus the GVWR taken from the door sticker.
  • I have a 1997 F 250 with the 7.3 Powerstroke and we bought a 2012 Sabre 34RLQS that is 37 feet long and weighs in ready to camp at about 11,200 lbs. Tows and handles great, we spend summers in Colorado. Just be sure that your truck has the right tires so not to exceed their weght rating. I have Michelin's rated at 3415 lbs each. The Sabre is a lot of trailer for the money a d we are extremely happy with the combo.
