Wheel Bearing Repack

I do mine also. The reasons I do them are two fold. One, I get to look at everything and know it is reassembled correctly and don't have in the back of my mind while out on the road is it done correctly. Two, I can use that money elseware for the things I want.

Okay, thanks all. I guess I haven't been keeping up with the times because I've done this work myself for so many years.

Price indicated seems to be what anyone can expect to pay anywhere in the country, I do mine simply because I know it will get done to my standards. Most RV service locations delegate such work to the least experienced RV tech, which could turn out to be a disaster if they perform the service haphazardly.

I've had dual axles done 3 times. 1.5 hours tops. Last time, it cost me about $375 including parts, labor, and tax.

This member of the brain trust says do it yourself. It is not hard at all but just takes a bit of time and effort. We have an excellent tutorial on just how to do the whole job and more.
It is stuck at the top of the Towing forum click here and is complete not only with good descriptions but with lots of How To pictures. :)
Give it a try and save a bunch of cash!

I just had my bearings done last week while being state inspected. The seals failed on 3 out of 4 wheels so they took everything apart and cleaned everything as the grease was everywhere including brakes. Installed new seals repacked bearings adjusted brakes for $400. It took them 4 hours to complete.
