Yes.
And it does not mean using the zerk fitting.
These same kinds of bearings were used on cars for many decades. The bearings went 50~100K miles between brake jobs and held up fine.
So I quit messing around with them every year. When ever I did so, I could see it wasn't needed.
With that in mind, I let our last TT go about 40K before repacking. Even then it was a waste of time and totally unneeded.
The yearly suggestion is CYA stuff from the manufacturer.
