Who has a Jayco Talon?

I just made a deal to trade my Class C on a used Jayco Talon toy hauler. I'd like to hear from folks who have one on the good, bad and ugly.

Thanks!
  • Drove all day and spent a lot of time going over it. Love the floor plan. This thing is huge. Don't think I've seen a bigger TH that's not a fifth wheel. Nice shape except for an obvious water leak in the front right corner. Big flag. Very frustrating since I specifically asked about this and any evidence of deal or prior leaks and was told none. We made an adjustment on the price and made the swap/deal. Heavy camper. Pulled great though all the way home; triple axles make a difference. Duramax/Allison got a workout in the mountains going up 6% & 7% grades.
  • So, if the Recon is the Talon's son, what is the Octane? Don't you dare say sister, or I'll take all your beer and you'll have to drink diesel fuel... :p

I've only had my Jayco Octane a little over a year, but I love it. So much better quality that the last toy hauler I had. I have seen several Talons that appear to have been holding up very well. Not sure when they switched form the Talon tot he Recon, but Jayco's quality always seem to stick....
  • We have the Talon's son, the Recon. LOVE IT!!! Jayco knows how to do it right! Well built and no cutting of corners. My only complaint is the two grey tanks are plumbed separately allowing the rear grey tank to be dedicated to the Washer/Dryer prep. This is NOT a design flaw though, just a safety precaution! Easy solution - bought a valve for the output pipe and can open both greys to balance out and capitalize on 64 gallons of grey capacity.
  • Congrats, love mine!
Only thing I would change would be the height, there is a lot of wind resistance, but that's the name of the game with 5th wheel campers/THs.
  • Love mine. I think after several years of use I finally have my first problem. I think the converter just went out. That's not made by Jayco and happens with many brands. I'll be replacing it when I get it back home.
  • We had a 2006 Jayco Talon 36V. Bought it brand new and owned it for 3 years. It was a real good TH for us. Well built and solid. Only major issue was one of the landing gear failed on the fiirst trip out, replaced under warranty and no isssues after that. It didn't have a lot of bling but that's why we bought it, and I would say it was much better quality than any of the other TH we looked at. I don't know why Jayco doesn't sell more TH. I guess everyone wants flash over substance. If we ever went back to a TH, I would look at Jayco first.
