I suppose the main reason I did was because of my lifestyle. I've owned various campers and motorhomes over the years but for the past several years I've found myself staying in one place for extended periods of time (minimum of one month up to six months). I like not having to maintain a second engine/drivetrain or worrying about letting an engine sit idle for long periods of time.
As others have mentioned, the fiver handles very nicely when under way. Large trucks can pass me at high speed and I can leave one hand on the steering wheel. There is absolutely no sway.
IMHO, the fiver feels more "homey" since it's all living space.
One thing I do miss about the motorhome is the ability to tow a small car. This means I have to use my truck as an everyday driver. The fuel savings with a small car would be substantial but I must realize I can't always have my cake and eat it too.
