I have been towing my '05 32' Montana with my '04 Dodge with a 9k max gvw for the last 11 years. I have been across scales with every thing and persons on board for a two week or more trip and have never exceeded any manuf. limits of my truck. So in my case your theory does not fly. JME.
Admittedly, I am new to this, so please bear with me. I'm trying to work those numbers. I keep coming up with this. You have a minimum 6587# Dodge dry weight (I assume you have the diesel if you have 9000 payload) with a max payload of 9000#. You put 1000# of people, fuel (38 gal), hitch and goodies in the TV. 9000-7587 leaves 1363# of payload for the hitch.
Your 5er has a unloaded vehicle hitch weight of 1980#, so aren't you 607# over payload without putting a thing in the Montana?
