GN hitches really shine when it comes to articulation. They will pivot on the ball side to side, front to back, or at an angle. This is not the case with a FW, they basically pivot only front and back.
For pulling equipment and livestock trailers over rough roads the GN wins. RV's normally don't see this type of terrain as much. Equipment and livestock trailers tend to have a very low center of gravity. Cattle are short, pigs are shorter, equipment usually is bottom heavy. This makes it easy to pull a GN hitch, with all it's articulation, and keep things "in line"
When you take an RV, with it's high center of gravity and sidewalls towering 7' or so above the hitch point you don't want a hitch that will pivot much side to side. This would cause some very unpredictable sway and handling. The FW style hitch helps control these types of loads.
