Based on what it will cost if you decide to get something like a Verizon MiFi and a large data plan, you might just go ahead and get a cheap Dish subscription and one of the portable satellite antennas. Then either add in HBO, Cinemax, Showtime OR just buy an occasional movie. Gotta be cheaper. And the bonus is you get a TV channel package too.

FWIW, I have a Winegard Pathway X2. Works great.

This is just an information site- they don't sell service. For the information, I put them strongly in the "recommend" pile. They've saved me money and helped me figure out what is best for my needs. Plus, you're helping a fellow RVer as they fulltime.

Hi, my name is Tom. I have ADD and I'm an internet junkie.

Short of the local news, national news and as much CNN as I can take (15 to 20 minutes tops!), I have no other use for t.v. Not many books can hold my attention long enough to get through them.

Back to the topic at hand ... I can bounce from one thing to another on the internet for a couple hours before the sun rises and then I'm out and about for the day. Doing this camping (when 4G is available) can still eat up 500 MB of data on a 3-day weekend. Retirement is close enough to start planning extended trips. Definitely need a 12-step program so that data fees don't cut into savings! :E

I have a connector to couple my I-Phone directly to the TV through a HDMI connection. I get High Definition and can view anything on the TV that I can view on the Iphone -- This allows me to watch any of my cable channels by streaming my home dish receiver using a "Sling" adapter. I can also watch NETFLIX or AMAZON Prime. My wife and I both have unlimited data through ATT, a plan we have had for several years. I think we used a combined total of about 15 GB last month. This system has worked very well everywhere except in our RV park in the RGV, where the data flow is so slow, it makes it impossible to stream, and surfing is agonizingly slow.
