Wildcat Extra lite. Good brand??

Looking at new 2012 model today. 28 ft. One slide. Would appreciate your opinions on this brand.
Thanks

  • Our first fifth wheel was a Rockwood Ultralite. We put many miles on with few issues. Our current fifth wheel is a Wildcat 282RKX and it is holding up as well as the first. No major issue so far, and ours is a 2012.

What do you mean when you say "niceties"?
    Thanks

In the case of a TT very similar to mine they deleted some outside access doors, cabinets, installed smaller tanks and went with lighter axles and brakes.

But a 3000# CC is great!

BTW, our Wildcat has been a fine trailer. No leaks and no major repairs in the entire 10 years we've owned it.
I suspect the graphics are rather cheap as the ones on the front of the TT quickly faded - but that part gets the afternoon sun every day. I removed the front graphics after a couple of years.
Probably the biggest thing I had to "fix" was the dull gel-coat on the front. I had it re-painted a couple of years ago with a 2 part epoxy paint and it looks like new again. It probably wasn't necessary but I'm a stickler for keeping my things looking like new.
The rest of the tt still looks fresh - including the graphics and interior.
This spring I think I'll bling it up with some new alum. wheels.
    It deserves them. ;)

  • I've always been impressed with the Wildcat line. They actually make the Wildcat Maxx line right neat where I live. Maybe 25 miles away. Have always been meaning to go take a tour.
As far as deleting niceties, I think it's the other way around. Just go read the brochure online. Look at all the "NEW" items listed. Also they come on a BAL frame as opposed to Lippert. Whether that's good or bad IDK but it can't be worse:)

Most all models have very good CCC as well.

  • I have seen Wildcat come up with light models by reworking existing models and installing under sized axles and deleting hundreds of pounds of niceties.
If you like the trailer overall then I would check out the CCC. Make sure it has an acceptable amount of capacity left.
