I guess I can see their point, but sometimes customer service should trump absolute by-the-book warranty stuff. It wouldn't cost them that much and the good will created can't be anything but good for them.
I'm not sure what they're called either, but yes, they are the ones without borders. I really loved this feature when we bought it, but now, not so much. :)
