Wireless back up camera system

Has anyone found a wireless backup video camera that works adequately on a large 5th wheel? I have purchased two, one was advertised to have 90 foot wireless range but was barely adequate at 15 feet (it works OK for the forward mounted side cameras but only after I purchased high power (3 watt) 2.4 GB sender/receiver). Even at 3 watts and an advertised range of 5 km, it's not even close to sending a picture from the rear of my Jayco 377RLBH Northpoint to my cab

  • I purchased the system from TadiBrothers. I'm happy with their cameras (I bought the premium CCD side cameras). The range of the transmitters they supplied was very poor and seemed subject to interference. I then purchased transmitters and receivers from SainSonic. They have 8 channels (on the 2.4GB band) that are selectable. I had to go through a few iterations to find frequencies that allowed a stable image for the side cameras. It seems they almost interfered with themselves. With an advertised range of 5 km and an advertised power of 3 watts, it's baffling why I can't get a stable image at less than 50 feet.
  • OP - you don't say what brand(s) you have tried. We have a Furrion rear monitor camera (made for constant-on use) on the back of our 36' fifth wheel. A good, strong signal makes it to the dashboard of our crew cab truck without any skipping or drop-outs.

  • Maybe it is the receiver that it bad.

I have one that I paid way too much for and it works just fine over the 35 feet or so from back to front of my C.
