I have an older LG compressor unit I bought 6 years ago, it works flawlessly. Note that compressor based dehumidifiers stop doing anything below about 40 degrees F so they don't freeze up. They draw air across a cold coil to condense out the water, then across a warm coil to heat the air back up to room temperature. Mine has a drip tank as well as a garden hose threaded drain connection. About all you have to do is dump the water and clean the air filter. Mine has a 2 gallon tank, and last weekend camping at Long Beach, WA, it pulled 1.5 gallons out of the air in 24 hours.
