Wooden roof trusses?

In my search for bumper pull toy haulers I've kind of narrowed it down to Attitude, Powerlite, or Desert Fox. Recently I found a video of the construction of a Desert Fox that showed wooden roof trusses. Is this the norm for all of these trailers? I'm a bit concerned about the use of wood in the construction. Do most of the toy haulers have wooden roofs? Is it something I should worry about? I wouldn't expect it in the more expensive TH's but maybe thats just the way they are all built.

Thanks
Dwight
  • Most trailers have wooden roof trusses, even those that are otherwise framed with aluminum generally use wood in that capacity.
  • There are pluses and minuses to wood or aluminum- IMO wood is the better bet but it is heavier.
  • I think mine has both wood and aluminum in the framing and roof. They call it an aluminum super structure. Northwood must be proud of that for some reason because they found it necessary to remind me of that fact with a big decal every time I look at the ramp.
  • Jayco, for example, has wooden roof trusses and wooden floor joists. Jayco states the roof is several times stronger then stamped steel or extruded aluminum roof systems. Wood is a natural insulator and when used properly is a great building material. The walls are tubular aluminum and vacuum laminated.
