I chock my tires when I unhook then put the X-Chocks on once the tires cool down, usually and hour or so later. They do help with the front to back motion and they a great of chocking the tires, last year I forgot to remove them and couldn't figure out why the trailer wouldn't move after I removed the regular chocks.
