It doesn't have to be that way. Even during the winter we can get 3-4 days of good weather at a time here in Denver. If schedules permit, it is easy to de-winterize and go camping. After we get back, re-winterizing only takes about a half-hour. We even go camping without the water system. We use blue jugs of water and plastic basins in the sinks. We pour anti-freeze into the holding tanks. It is possible to enjoy camping all year round, and in the off-season there is very little competition for campsites.
Heck; up here there are virtually NO campsites in winter.
