- eDUBzExplorerThanks guys - I got chains. I’ll most likely take I5,99,41
@gonzo my Truck and trailer measure 45’ total length. What bridge is it? - Gonzo42Explorer140 is probably your best bet as its the lowest elevation and an easy drive. There is one restriction regarding rig size for a bridge. I seem to remember 40 ft length max. Better check if your rig is big.
They will probably turn you back at the gate if you have no chains. If you do take 41, you can buy chains in Oakhurst. - sin_cal_hdExplorerTake snow chains if anticipating snow.
CHP will be at a checkpoint below the snowfall checking for proper size of chains. Call park or CHP central division night before to see if there are any road closures. You can also get on cal trans website for closures.
Take I5 to 99 up to Fresno 41. - eDUBzExplorerWon’t be going through the 395 this time - 1-5 to 41
- Hap_HazardExplorerHi Guy,
Check to be sure your route is open. I’m guessing you’re going 40, 140, or 120 into the park. Call the Cal Trans line to check 1-800-427-Road. You can also access their website.
Weather can be very cool at night. We’re currently 39* at 9PM. Daytime can run from 50’s to 75+. Fall colors are still showing. Crowds shouldn’t be to bad.
Don’t plan on using Highway 395 as it will open and close without notice and it’s a long way around when closed.
Buy gas before leaving the cities as prices skyrocket as you move away from the truck stops and cities.
Enjoy your trip.
