My first priority is always the max rear axle weight rating and the max tire weight rating.
I decided that is where I draw the line too. Pulled our F350 SRW onto the CAT scale and it said I was 6820 on a 7K rear axle and tires rated for a few hundred pounds more than that. I hadn't even loaded food, clothes, water, or the daughter yet! I thought I could get by, but was fooling myself.
With no more reluctance, we went to a dually. 9K rear axle and a bucket load of tire capacity :B
