Advice on leaving California

My plan is to buy a 5th wheel out of state and at that time move out of California. Probably domicile in Florida. Does anyone have any advice on how best to do this? Especially timing-wise?

I know I'll need to get a driver's licens and register my vehicles. But is it as simple as that? Has anyone on the forum left California this way? Any advice. Thank you!

Oh, and Happy Easter!

  • If you are getting a loan most get the loan while they still have their house. THEN move, establish your domicle etc.

All you do when you are settled is make a 'mailing address' change to your loan company. They don't care where you have the payment mailed to as you get your payment in the mail and pay it.

Boy. Just can't say anything nice. The Oregon attitude. Gotta love it.

Guess I got lost on this one. Are you suggesting you can't ever move if you have a vehicle loan? Of coarse if you are applying for a loan they want vehicle registered in some state. Most likely before you pick it up.
  • Don't forget to get an legal address in which ever state you choose - mail forwarding services are the easiest way to go and will help you get established. What about health insurance, have you got that covered? Also you will need full timer insurance on vehicle(s), will be more expensive than regular if you don't have a house that would include personal liability insurance.
