All our income is electronically deposited. What is the best financial institution to use to obtain cash without ATM charges while traveling across the USA. Thank you.

- I belong to Alliant Credit Union. 80,000 free ATMs across the country.
Free checking and they also pay interest on the checking account.
Try them out. Go to their web site and you'll see the ATM zip code search right up front.
You may have seen their ads in the Escapees magazine.
Tim - Wells Fargo... They have offices most everywhere, and a good online system for Bill paying.
- I have on-line banking through Wells Fargo also in prep for full-timing myself, like posted above.
- ALLY BANK will reimburse you transaction fees at any ATM in the U.S.A.
- Our bank pays the ATM fee at any bank, it shows up as a credit on the monthly statement.
- USAA refunds ATM Fees up to $15 a month.
BOA is almost everywhere, no fee at their ATM, depending on account type. - Wells Fargo. 6,200 branches. 12,000 ATMS. I have a mortgage through Wells Fargo and that gets me free checking.
I agree with those who suggest getting cash back at Walmart and other retailers (no fee).
Travelers checks are another option - protecting you from loss in case of theft. But I'm finding they're hard to cash due to a prevalence of fraud. - Thanx for the replies.

The fly in the ointment is, how far out of your way will you go to accomplish that? Real banks are in cities.
